Wal-Mart Sells "Sanitized" Music, Film -Censorship or Customer Service
Wal-Mart is the nation's leading seller of pop music, accounting for nearly 9% of the total domestic music CD sales. In a daring move, the mega-merchant has drawn a line regarding the kind of music it will and will not sell to its customers. The chain's buyers are refusing to stock music with lyrics and artwork it deems objectionable. Titles like Nirvana's "Incesticide" won't be found on any Wal-Mart shelves, while another Nirvana title, "Rape Me" has been downgraded to "Waif Me." Dozens of rap and hard rock artists have cleaned up their lyrics to meet Wal-Mart's family-oriented standards. They Crap on Associates
I AM AN ASSOCIATE OF WALMART AND HAVE BEEN FOR 6 YEARS. I STARTED OUT AS A CASHIER. THEN TO CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM THERE TO CSM AND NOW I AM THE DEPARTMENT MANAGER OF PETS. IN THE PAST YEAR, I HAVE BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH SEVERE MIGRAINS, 4 HERNIATED DISCS 2 OF WHICH ARE DETERIATING, NECK PROBLEMS, CARPAL TUNNEL IN BOTH WRISTS AND MIGHT I ADD I AM THE ONLY PERSON IN THIS DEPARTMENT. 55 POUNDS OF OL'ROY GETS HEAVY AFTER A WHILE. I WAS SEEING MY NEUROLOGISTS AND BONE AND JOINT DOCTORS FOR TREATMENT. IN THE MEAN TIME, I CALLED OUT OF WORK FOR 2 DAYS. I RECEIVED A LIFT LIMIT FROM THE DOCTOR OF NO MORE THAN 15 POUNDS. THIS WAS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO WALMART. WALMART STORE MANAGER CALLS MY HUSBAND LAST FRIDAY AND STATED THAT I NEED TO TAKE A LOA OR LEAVE OF ABSENCE. I RECEIVED ALL NESSASARY PAPER WORK AND SUBMITTED TO MY DOCTOR FOR HIS SIGNITURE. IN THE MEAN TIME, I AM ON MEDICATION THAT PROHIBITS ME TO DRIVE. WALMART DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR FAMILY PROBLEMS OR YOUR HEALTH PROBLEMS. THE STORE IS SO SHORT HANDED AND THEY WILL NOT HIRE ANYONE ELSE. THEY SAY NO ONE IS PUTTING IN APPS. THIS IS BULL--I HAVE A FRIEND THAT APPLIED 3 TIMES IN 1 YEAR AND WASN'T EVEN CONSIDERED. THEY HIRE WHO THEY WANT AND NO ONE ELSE. MY DOCTOR HAS PLACED ME ON INTERMITTED WORK. WHICH MEANS ONLY ABLE TO WORK LIMITED HOURS PER DAY. WALMART SAYS THAT I HAVE TO BE 100% BEFORE I CAN RETURN TO WORK. THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE A JOB FOR ME FOR LESS THAN 100%..THAT IS NOT AN OFFER. AS A VALUED ASSOCIATE, I FEEL LIKE THEY WILL NOT ONLY REAM THE CUSTOMERS, THEY CRAP ON ASSOCIATES TOO. THAT'S OK BECAUSE TARGET IS COMMING IN RIGHT NEXT DOOR.. HAHA, MAYBE WALMART WILL FOLD SINCE THE WALTON'S DONT SEEM TO BE RUNNING THINGS ANYWAY. SINCE THE LOSS OF SAM, WALMART HAS REALLY GONE DOWN HILL.
